several years into her corporate career, amos was gifted a pottery class from her siblings. given her innate creative abilities, she quickly mastered the art of making a muddy mess. with her days spent in front of screens, getting her hands dirty after hours became an outlet - a therapy of sorts. for many years, amos created functional pottery using off-site studios. eventually, her husband, partner-in-crime (p-i-c), was gifted a kiln which commenced her first at-home studio. unbeknownst to amos, it was a safeguard, for her dear p-i-c has butter fingers while dishwashing, often providing amos an opportunity to throw mud year-round. since moving to york county, sc, the mud-making art has taken on more of a life, and amos makes her rounds at pop-ups selling her creations and meeting her faithful customers. for amos, the highlight of the entire lengthy pottery process is opening the kiln after the glaze firing, as if every time is like christmas morning. the stoneware and glazes take on lives of their own with endless surprises.
if you don’t have a favorite mug or bowl yet, feel free to check out the available stoneware or drop a note for custom requests.
